Founded by MaryAnna Wagner Stahl in 1985, March Hare Salon is one of the oldest hair salons in the world class destination of Carmel by the Sea.
MaryAnna Wagner Stahl is an entrepreneur, pioneer AVEDA educator, certified aroma therapist, hairstylist, and make-up artist who brings over 48 years of salon experience to the community. Currently a member of the Carmel Chamber of Commerce and past associate Board member of the Big Sur International Marathon, Ms. Stahl is a dynamic presence in the community of the Monterey Peninsula. |

With diligence and enthusiasm, s he has pursued the AVEDA lifestyle. Her mission has been to share her knowledge with her staff, her customers and with the public. Her talent for new ideas and her motivation for exceeding her goals has won the,March Hare Salon many awards and has taken customers" beyond" satisfied.
In 1985, Ms. Stahl purchased the March Hare Salon and transformed it into the first AVEDA Concept Salon in the area. The salon also exclusively sells and uses AVEDA products.

Over the years, March Hare Salon has achieved National sales awards from AVEDA along with many environmental and humanitarian honors. The team has participated many times in the Big Sur International Marathon by joining in "The Walk" a 10 mile walk to raise monies for local as well as national grass roots charities, including "Surfrider Foundation”, “Meals on Wheels” and many more. Earth Month at AVEDA is always a focus for raising funds as well as awareness for environmental issues on a local as well as global level. The Salon donates services and products on an ongoing basis for local charity events as a way of giving back to the community.
The March Hare Salon has won the prestigious Golden Pine Cone 8 years in a row. The award recognizes the salon for excellent service to their customers. The Salon has also won the Talk of The Town award 6 years running for their outstanding service.
The March Hare staff are all talented, creative, compassionate people who care about their local community and the world they live in. As a team, they are dedicated to local causes, including local disaster relief, homeless assistance, food and clothing donations and other local needs as they arise.

As an educator for AVEDA, MaryAnna was a Founder member of the elite group of cutting edge hairdressers called "Purefessionals". As such, she shares knowledge and expertise with others in the industry. She has worked at major hair shows in Minneapolis, San Francisco, Long Beach, as well as New York City where she assisted master perfumer Ko-ichi Shiozawa at Radio City Music Hall for AVEDA's 20 year celebration. MaryAnna has completed a program at AVEDA as a Salon Coach specializing in AVEDA natural hair color.

MaryAnna completed AVEDA'S “Aromaology” program and went on to become certified aroma therapist through the internationally renowned Pacific Institute of Aromatherapy in 2000. She continues her studies and practice of aromatherapy to this day.
The March Hare Salon has been nominated twice for the Carmel Chamber of Commerce Green Ribbon of Excellence Award in the service category and won the coveted award in 2003. |
